Some on-line shops refrain from informing you that the prices they quote for products exclude local statutory taxes and import duties. Their prices are perceived to be very low, however they do not contain VAT or any import duties. The latter may differ due to the type of product – clothing manufactured in China have heftier duties attached to them than bearings from Germany! You can sometimes add around 40% to the quoted price!

Shipping costs of merchandise purchased from other on-line shops are very often a caveat! These on-line shops often “lure” clients to purchase at the promise of “free shipping” but are often very vague about the fact that shipment to other countries are not free. Clients are then billed by the courier company for delivery and only face this bill when the merchandise gets delivered!
